Professor Yusuke Honjo

Dr. Yusuke Honjo is a professor of the Department of Civil Engineering, Gifu University, Gifu, Japan. He is a member of JSCE (Japanese Society of Civil Engineers), JGS (Japanese Geotechnical Society), and International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineers (ISSMGE). He served as Chair of Limit state design in geotechnical engineering practice of ISSMGE (TC23) in 2001-2005. He is a member, editorial committee of "Soils and Foundations" in JGS, and managerial editor of "Georisk"
Professor Honjo received his B.Eng from Nagoya Institute of Technology, M Eng from Kyoto University, MSc and PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA.
His research interests include Geotechnical data analysis and inverse analysis, Design methodology and reliability design, and Design code development. He has published extensively in these areas.
His involvements in industry include the experience as Research Engineer, and then Senior Research Engineer at Takenaka Technical Research Institute, Tokyo, Japan from 1975-1981 and 1985-1989 respectively. He was appointed as Associate Professor and serve as Chairman at the Division of Geotechnical and Transportation Eng., Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand in from 1989 to 1993. Then Associate Professor at Nagaoka University of Technology, Niigata, Japan (1993-1995) before moving to Gifu University, Gifu, Japan as Associate Professor (1995-1999) and Professor since 1999.
