Professor Dato’ Dr. Ibrahim Komoo (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia)

Dr. Ibrahim Komoo is a Professor of Engineering Geology at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He is currently a Deputy Vice Chancelor for Research and Innovation at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and The principal Research Fellow of LESTARI.
Dr. Ibrahim Komoo obtained his BSc (Hons) in Geology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and PhD. in Mining Engineering from University of Strathclyde, United Kingdom in 1979.
Dr. Ibrahim Komoo research covers all aspects of geology and rock engineering, especially in Conservation Geology. He has serve in the Advisory Group of Experts UNESCO Geopark Initiative since 2000 and his most current contribution was the acknowledgement of Pulau Langkawi as Geopark by UNESCO.
Dr. Ibrahim Komoo has published a number of books, technical papers in journals and conference proceedings. He has received many awards as a scientist, researcher and for publications.
Dr. Ibrahim Komoo is is a fellow member of Akademi Sains Malaysia (FASc) and Institut Geologi Malaysia (FIGM). He is also a member of International Association of Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG), Akademi Sains Islam Malaysia, Institut Geologi Malaysia (IGM), Malaysian Nature Society, and Persatuan Geologi Malaysia (GSM).
