Ir. Dr. Gue See Sew

Ir. Dr. Gue See Sew is the Managing Director of Gue & Partners Sdn Bhd, a geotechnical engineering consulting firm. He obtained his B.Sc Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in 1979, and PhD from University of Oxford in 1984.

He began his professional career as a Bridge Design Engineer in the Public Works Department of Malaysia in 1979. In 1990, he left the government service to head the new R&D Department of Percon Corporation Sdn Bhd. Dr Gue was the Managing Director of SSP Geotechnics Sdn Bhd from February, 1992 – September, 1999. He is now the Managing Director of Gue & Partners Sdn Bhd.

He is also the Malaysian representative to the APEC Engineer Coordinating Committee to negotiate for substantiate equivalency in qualifications and experiences of engineers since 1997. Dr Gue has published more than 40 technical papers related to geotechnical engineering in various conferences.

He was the Chairman of IEM Position Paper on Mitigating the Risk of Landslide on Hill-Site Development. Ir. Dr. Gue is a Past President of The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM). He was a Board Member of The Board of Engineers, Malaysia. He was also the Chairman for the Taskforce Committee on Policies and Procedures for Mitigating the Risk of Landslide on Hill-Site Development and the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Finance of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia. He is the current Head Commissioner of ASEAN Engineers Register (AER).

Ir. Dr. Gue is also active in the engineering education and research and has been appointed by five local universities in various capacities; from Adjunct Professor to Advisory Panel Member.

Ir. Dr Gue See Sew has published 81 technical papers related to geotechnical engineering in various conferences and seminars including a number of keynote addresses, theme lectures and special lectures.
